A Mole Run Probe is a vital piece of equipment that no mole catcher should be without. We have these made for us in England, at about 80cms long – unlike cheaper rivals. So no more stooping. They’re made of steel rod and brightly powder-coated in orange so you can see it on the ground.
One of the trickiest problems when mole catching is finding the mole run. This probe makes that task far easier than using a screwdriver, electric fencing post or any of the dozens of other probes that are in use.
The tip is of a larger diameter than the shaft of the rod. When you push the rod through the ground, it creates a larger hole than the shaft. This means that when you hit a mole run, you feel the distinct ‘drop’ into the tunnel as the shaft of the tool is not being gripped by the soil. In fact you can sometimes feel if you have hit the side of a tunnel rather than the middle.
You’ll need a 13mm or adjustable spanner to make up the joint, preferably tightening it up in a vice. It is shown in the second photograph.
The link to the Instruction Video will come with the parcel.
Success !!! Mole Problem Sorted in 3 days 🙂
Last year the first molehills appeared in our lawn after moving here 17 years ago. Bought a Beagle trap from amazon set it up in a few places round the lawn over several weeks & failed to trap anything. Thought they went away over winter. A few weeks ago new molehills appeared with mole activity clearly visible – new molehills appearing and new soil being pushed up almost daily. Searched online, studied several different sites. I felt the molecatching.com site was the most convincing. Bought the Mole Catching Starter Kit with two tunnel traps Manual and Six Videos. Read the manual thoroughly. Watched all the videos. Set and placed the two traps, carefully following the instructions. Checking them the next day, there was one dead mole !!. Left the traps for 3 days checking each day, on the third day a second dead mole !! Same trap but coming from the opposite direction. Have continued to leave traps, but so far no more dead moles, but no more mole activity either. Very pleased with the kit, using the one piece mole run probe was really easy, setting the traps and placing them as instructed was straightforward. And the result was most satisfactory. In different properties over the years before moving here, I have tried to catch invading moles using borrowed traps and NEVER succeeded. Soooo glad to have found this site and finally discover that with the right equipment and great instructions, it actually seemed really easy !!! I expect to get a lot more use out of the equipment in the future as I can see a lot of molehills in the adjacent cemetery – not sure how we got away mole free for so long.
Excellent service
The mole-catching kit arrived very quickly, as I explained I needed it before going away. I haven’t tried it out yet as the moles have gone quiet, but all arrived as described and the on-line video tutorial looks very clear
Mole catching kit
The mole traps and run probe are strong and of excellent quality. The instruction videos are easy to access and packed with useful details. The communication from molecatching.com was very good and the kit arrived promptly and well packaged. I highly recommend this kit based on its quality and price and for the service I received from molecatching.com
Thanks so much.
The videos with the Tunnel Traps really helped. I’d being doing it all wrong before, and caught my first within 24 hours!!
